Collection: Paul Crichton

Paul Crichton takes his inspiration from nature, drawing from his experiences of the Tasmanian oceans through sailing and diving,  while walking in Tasmania's unique and diverse landscapes, immersing himself in it's constantly morphing beauty .

Paul paints mainly in acrylics but occasionally water colours and pastels lure him away

Paul’s paintings continue to reflect his love of the ocean in her ever-changing moods, with Tasmania’s wild rocky foreshores and gentle bays continuing to captivate and inspire him.

His favourite painting teacher at Hobart Art School in the late 60’s and early 70’s was
Patricia Giles, her watercolours and those of her close painting buddy Max Angus
continue to influence and stimulate his exploration into the unique light-touched Tasmanian landscape

This year Paul has shifted his practice into translating more ethereal moods, revealed in those rare moments, where the unseen, the unspeakable, makes a brief appearance to our eyes, and we are not sure what it is we have seen.
