Richea linoprint - 2021
This hand painted original linocut features the Richea Dracophylla. Richea grow wild on the slopes of kunanyi/Mt Wellington where Grace now lives in Southern Tasmania. Flowering in spring their unusual spikes reach out into the bush, on oddly angled branches. Here Grace captures the movement of the leaves and the little idiosyncrasies that make it such a special native.
Grace has hand-carved lino, and printed with oil based printing ink onto Stonehenge paper. For this piece, she has chosen the deep kraft-coloured Stonehenge paper, which gives the piece a warmth and depth difficult to capture in photographs. Colour and highlights are added with watercolour, each piece individually hand painted.
The image size measures 30cm high (12") x 21 cm wide (approx 8 1/4") with the paper larger as shown. Each artwork is signed and numbered with the edition limited to 25.
