Summit 4, Scoparia lino print - 2021
"Summit 4, Scoparia” is the fourth in Grace’s series of linocuts exploring the otherworldly landscape at the summit of Mount Wellington. Mount Wellington (kunanyi) dominates the landscape of Hobart Tasmania, Grace’s hometown. Kunanyi’s familiar shape is the backdrop for life in Australia's most southern city, but up on top of the mountain a startlingly different landscape is revealed. Almost alien, it is dominated by monumental boulders and alpine vegetation. In “Summit 4” the Scoparia flowers are blooming in the foreground. The late afternoon sun causes the rocks to glow, deepening the colour of the shadows, drawing us into the depth of field.
This large linocut measures approximately 30cm (12") wide by 50cm (20") high, not including signature. The paper is larger still, as pictured. Each print is numbered and signed with this being a small edition of 25.
There is a 2-3 week lead time on all unframed prints as the artist individually handpaints each linoprint upon order - please consider this when purchasing.
