Pancake Ice
2023
Acrylic paint on 12oz cotton 590gsm stretched canvas framed in sustainable Tasmanian Oak
100cm x 75cm unframed
The design for this artwork was inspired by a particular ice formation known as 'Pancake Ice' that occurs in cold oceans, such as Antarctica
Pancake ice is a form of sea ice that consists of round pieces of ice with diameters ranging from 30cm to 3m and thicknesses up to 10cm, depending on the local conditions. It forms as a result of wave action on slush or ice rind
The artists interpretation is an imaginative response after hearing of the scientific process of the formation of this phenomena
Deb's use of colour, shape and texture through her acrylic palate on canvas, explore the patterns and shapes that occur through her stylised interpretation of pancake ice
This artwork is on exhibit at Premaydena Hill Cellar Door & is available for collection from Bylanders Collective (Nubeena) or for postage/delivery at the conclusion of the exhibition Mid May
